Healthy Eating With Tasty Foods and Still Lose Weight

Posted by javanuddin on Sunday, July 22, 2012

It seems as if people do not eat healthy foods because they feel it will not taste as good as regular foods. However, if your health food doesn't taste good, you're eating the wrong health food. Just because something is good for you doesn't mean it has to taste bland. Nor does the food you consume have to be boring either. There are plenty of ideas out there for eating healthy without making sacrifices on taste Here are just a few of them.

New alternatives to eating healthy foods: While the health food market has changed in recent years, many new products and healthy alternatives are now available. Next time you're at a health food store, look around at all the different options. There are healthier versions of previously unhealthy foods. Try them; you might be pleasantly surprised with the taste.

Prepare your own food: While it is easy to buy frozen foods and use the microwave to fix dinner, the problem is that convenient isn't necessarily healthy, and the foods that are marketed as such usually do not taste so great. Preparing your own food allows you to not only eat healthier, but to maintain and control the flavor as well. If time is not on your side to prepare home cooked meals, you can use a Saturday to cook several meals for the following week. In this way, you will have an entire prepared; all you have to do is take it out the night before, place it in the refrigerator and prepare it when you get home. More importantly, you will have a meal deplete of blandness and questionable texture. Spice up your cooking: Good food doesn't have to be bland. Add different herbs and spices like Rachel Ray does with her meals. A great way to add taste without adding a lot of fat or calories is to add more spices. Check out the Food TV site and click on Rachel Ray's prepared meals. The spices she uses may be sitting in your cabinet. The meals she prepares are always changed by using a different array of spices. Give it a try!

Fruit can be just as sweet: Fruit is a great way to get your fix without binging on candy and chocolate. Instead of your normal afternoon snack, try an apple or fruit of your choice which you can easily toss in your purse. At dinner, add fruit as a dessert, side dish, or even put some into the main course. Fruit gives you lots of vitamins and minerals and it satisfies your need for sweets. Another great idea is to juice various vegetables and then add fruit to flavor. You'll be getting the added benefit of vegetables with the taste of fruit juice. It's quite delicious!

Dieting and foods are not synonymous with bad tastes. You can prepare food which is not only good and tastes great, but with a little ingenuity and a few recipes; you can enrich your diet regimen and ultimately lose weight at the same time.

Tasty Fat Burning Foods for Nutrition and Overall Weight Loss

Posted by javanuddin on Saturday, July 21, 2012

Finding the right fat burning food is one of the most important keys of proper nutrition and overall weight loss. In spite of what many of those fad diets would have you believe, eating healthy whole foods are the best way to not only lose those inches around the abs, but keep them off for good without getting depressed or missing foods. Learning to eat healthy whole foods is not a diet or new fad but rather a get back to basics way of living without all those nasty preservatives. Once you start understanding healthy foods vs unhealthy foods it will suddenly becomes a lot easier to maintain proper nutrition and eating habits without feeling deprived! Here are just four fast fat burning foods you may never have thought of before.

Apples

An apple a day keeps the doctor away-and the fat too as it turns out! Apples are great fat busters for a few reasons. First, they elevate blood sugar naturally and keep it higher for a longer period of time, making you feel more energetic and satisfied. Second, they contain plenty of soluble fiber which also keeps you feeling fuller longer. There are a dozen or more varieties of apples available year round and can be eaten on the go.

Hot Peppers

And hot mustard too! Both of these spicy foods can help to literally burn fat away, according to studies done by Dr. Jay Henry in Oxford. They work through a thermic effect, which is mostly just a fancy way of saying that they raise the metabolism of the body through heat. But this wouldn't be enough; hot pepper also have minerals and vitamins in them which makes them a healthy food to add to your diet.

Walnuts, Pecans, Almonds

Delicious and great sources of healthy fats. Try to get raw nuts if possible as the roasting process can oxidize some of the polyunsaturated fats in some types of nuts making those damaged fats slightly more inflammatory. Overall, nuts are still healthy even if they are roasted, but raw nuts are optimal.

Melons

You may not have ever thought of it, but melons are also a good fat buster. They are chock full of water, vitamins and fiber and contain very few calories. All melons can keep you hydrated and fuller longer with almost no fat and few calories for it. They are amazing diet buddies and with a naturally sweet flavor, you won't be craving the junk food anymore!

You can't possibly lose weight if the foods you use to prepare your meals are unhealthy and loaded with calories. You can't go wrong if you avoid processed foods and stick with whole foods and fresh ingredients. Anything boxed, frozen, jugged or canned is considered processed and has no place in a healthy diet. There's no need to starve yourself or eat bland diet food once you know about the huge range of fat burning foods out there. Their are plenty of whole foods which not only taste good but also promote proper nutrition and healthy eating habits.

Quick Weight Loss Tips Four Really Simple Tricks To Make You Keep Eating Healthy Even If You Have Bad Food Cravings

Posted by javanuddin

Being on a diet plan may be fairly challenging. It can even get harder if you are following a diet that isn't producing results (like a starvation diet). With that being said, the biggest thing that will keep you on your diet will be if you start out on a plan that is actually working from the beginning. I'll talk about which type of diet is easy to stick to and guaranteed effective a little later; but first, I wanted to share with you some easy diet tips. These 4 little tips may help you conquer the urges to eat poor food... and instead this will make you WANT to eat healthier!

1. Have your house stocked with tons of healthy food! Is there any other way that would be more effective in helping you eat healthier right from the beginning? Only keep healthy foods stocked, and you'll be more willing to eat those foods. And not just because you run the risk of starving yourself, but because the more you eat healthy foods, the more you train your brain to crave those foods. Have faith... it works! I'm even craving some healthy fruit as I'm writing this article!

2. Make sure that you keep photos of good healthy food around your house! This is just a little tip that will help you each day to remember the value of eating healthy will have on your life. Every day that you view those pictures of healthy fruits and vegetables, you will just naturally begin to feel healthier.

3. Switch up cooking styles and recipes! No matter how resilient you are, there comes a point where if you just have even one more piece of chicken, you will go out of your mind! LOL! I cannot stress enough the importance of switching up your cooking styles and recipes with healthy foods. If you continue to cook the same recipes and eat them over and over, you will get sick of them and go back to your old eating habits. Try cooking your food in different ways with different types of sauces.

4. Discover the truths behind your favorite bad foods! The best way to actually scare you completely from consuming bad foods is to actually find out what they are doing to you. An example of this would be hamburgers from a popular restaurant which total over 1,000 calories... and I had French fries, a side salad with lots of dressing, condiments, a sugary soda, and dessert! Just that one meal is enough calories for an entire day... at Least If You Were a 1st class athlete who exercises and burns a ton of calories! But besides the calories, the amount of fat, carbs, sodium, and other nasty stuff is just simply mind-boggling!

Bottom line, those 4 easy diet tips helped me with overcoming my cravings with eating bad foods, and I'm sure that if you apply them to your life, they will help you as well!

Now, what should be done to actually going on a good diet? If you choose to follow a diet plan that is pretty simple to follow, and in addition is very effective, then you will automatically see yourself losing weight consistently... without feeling those negative emotions most people get when going on a diet. Diets like this are one's that won't have you starve yourself, and instead they have you eat REAL foods, and they carry out the one thing most diet programs out here manage to ignore... and that would be INCREASING your metabolism as opposed to doing unhealthy things to lower it.

Healthy, High Calorie Foods For Weight Gain

Posted by javanuddin on Friday, March 16, 2012

Who's sexier - Jennifer Lopez or Olive Oyl from the old Popeye cartoons? Most people would emphatically reply, "J-Lo!" Some of us are naturally endomorphs, and have difficulty losing weight. At the other end of the spectrum are ectomorphs, who are thin and actually have trouble gaining weight. Being skinny can be emotionally difficult. That may be hard to believe, especially for women, given our current "thin-is-in" culture of beauty. Others who may want to gain weight include body builders and those who are overcoming eating disorders.

The idea behind gaining weight is not to become obese of course - so fast food is definitely out of the question. That's because obesity is accompanied by serious health risks such as heart disease and diabetes. Rather, people who want to gain weight need healthy high-calorie foods for weight gain. The healthy way to gain weight naturally is with high-protein foods - which will also build attractive, lean muscle.

The three primary nutrients for the human body are protein, which supplies amino acids; fats, which supply fatty acids; and carbohydrates, which supply glucose. These three primary nutrients are also the foods to gain weight with! Here's a snapshot of how to optimize your diet with healthy high-calorie foods for weight gain.

Protein should be the building block of every meal and snack. Protein builds lean muscle. This does not mean fast-food burgers! Be sure that your protein sources are lean: chicken, fish, or vegetarian alternatives such as beans and tofu. Red meat and dairy products are not generally recommended because they're high in saturated fat. However, there are healthy ways to eat red meat and dairy products, which we'll discuss shortly. Your serving of protein should be the largest portion on your plate. Lean protein snacks include hummus, nuts, low-fat cheese and yogurt.

Enjoy hearty whole-grain carbohydrates. This does not mean white, highly processed carbs such as potato chips, white bread and bagels! Think brown. Whole-grain carbs include items such as multi-grain crackers, whole wheat bread and basmati rice. People who are watching their weight avoid highly processed carbs and reduce their intake of whole-grain carbs to one or two servings per day. Since your goal is to gain weight, feel free to eat whole-grain carbohydrates with every meal. Seven-grain crackers dipped in hummus makes a hearty snack!

Eat at least five servings of fresh fruits and vegetables every day. You can boost your serving intake by also drinking 100 percent natural fruit juices. Also, be sure to add a fruit or vegetable to every meal. We could change that old saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" to "Five servings a day keeps sickness at bay!"

Enjoy healthy fats. Fats encourage nutrient absorption, facilitate nerve transmission, and maintain cell integrity. This does not mean eating greasy french fries! Not all fats are created equal. There are good fats and bad fats. The good guys are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Monounsaturated fats lower LDL, or bad, cholesterol and they also increase HDL, or good cholesterol. Tasty examples are nut, canola and olive oils. Polyunsaturated fats lower LDL and total cholesterol, too. Those healthy omega 3 fatty acids that you're always hearing about are polyunsaturated fats. Salmon, fish oil, and corn, soy, safflower and sunflower oils are high in polyunsaturated fats. Dip your whole-grain bread from a local baker in gourmet olive oil! Make a big, creamy batch of guacamole from hearty avocados--throw in some chunks of tomato and onion. These are delicious, healthy, high-calorie foods for weight gain! Avoid bad fats, as they instigate heart disease and certain types of cancer. The bad guys are saturated fats and trans fats. Saturated fats raise LDL and total cholesterol; they're found primarily in animal products, including meat, dairy and eggs. Trans fats come from hydrogenated oils. Scientists whip hydrogen into any type of oil, even originally healthy oils, to give processed foods a longer shelf life and a creamier "mouth feel." French fries and buns, stick margarine, vegetable shortening and countless packaged foods contain partially hydrogenated oils. Read the labels, and avoid them.

If you're going to eat animal products occasionally, protect your health by doing it the right way. If you want to enjoy some red meat and dairy products as part of your healthy plan to gain weight, here are some tricks to keep bad fats in check. Opt for meat and dairy products that come from grass-fed animals, preferably from local small family farmers in your area. Now, organic and grass-fed meat is available at most supermarkets. Not only are these products vastly superior in flavor, but also contain more good fats, especially omega 3 fatty acids, than bad fats. They also have conjugated lineolic acid, and are high in beta-carotene. These nutrients plummet in ordinary mass-produced meat and dairy products, because the animals are fed corn, which is less expensive and makes animals larger. You might also be shocked to learn that the animals are often fed truckloads of stale or ruined junk food such as snack cakes from bakery outlets because it's so cheap.

Another method you can use to supplement healthy foods to gain weight is by focusing on anaerobic exercise rather than aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is moderate activity performed over an extended period of time, such as running and bicycling. Aerobic exercise burns fat. However, if you're trying to gain weight, retain a little fat to sculpt into lean, attractive muscle, and turn to anaerobic exercise. Anaerobic exercise is high-intensity with short bursts of action, such as weight lifting, sprinting and jumping. Weight lifting is the perfect anaerobic exercise for someone who's trying to gain weight. Body builders use this type of anaerobic exercise to build muscle mass, and non-endurance sports athletes use it to build power. Weightlifting creates a hard body for men that women love, and it sculpts those curves on women that men appreciate! Once you attain your desired weight, you can supplement anaerobic exercise with aerobic exercise for overall cardiovascular health.

In addition to these diet tips, you can supplement your healthy diet with protein supplements. It is often difficult to eat enough protein each day, so supplementing with a soy or whey protein shake can help increase overall intake. Everyone who is too skinny wants to gain weight, look great, and build strength. Take the next step today, and enjoy the benefits of a fit, healthy body.

Foods To Lose Weight - Tasty and Healthy Desserts and Snacks

Posted by javanuddin

Are you looking to lose a lot of weight and fast?

Have you recently received an invitation to attend a wedding or class reunion?

Struggling with getting into your favorite gown or pair of slacks?

If you're like most, these are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of embarrassing moments. Not feeling at peace with the person in the mirror can be devastating. Imagine how not looking and feeling good about yourself affects your life. A sad and frustrated dieter who has yet to see results is someone who may or may not lack self-confidence, have negative personal and professional relationships and maybe wasting tons of money on non-nutritious foods.

If that is you than look no further. Contrary to what you may believe there are lots of others potentially feeling the same pain as you. Build on that bond and look for support in times of need. Now I cannot and will not offer you a false and exaggerated approach to weight loss. It's a waste of time and won't solve anything.

What I can honestly say and promise to you is a systematic approach that is easy-to-follow and bottom line has been proven to work. My strategy is focused around moderate calorie cuts of 100 per meal at least three times a week. For example for breakfast take whatever you like to eat and find a way to cut at least 100 calories from it at least three times per week. By doing this you will have shaved 300 calories off of your diet every week. Repeating this process for an entire year (52 weeks) and you're looking at a drop off of five pounds. It may make better sense if I explained it in different terms 100 calories x 3 times/week x 52 weeks=15,600 calories/5 pounds.

Snacks and desserts

We all like to snack here and there to break the monotony of a regimented meal plan. And there is nothing wrong with it. In fact, research shows that people who snack are better able to control their weight and eat less than those who do not. As with anything, it's all about moderation.

Frozen fruit smoothie

A fruit smoothie is an excellent choice when you feel the urge to snack. One of my favorite recipes calls for one cup of strawberries, ½ banana, 1/3 cup of whey protein, and water. Combine the ingredients in a blender and drink when ready. This refreshingly tasty treat will cut around 200 calories per serving compared to store-bought pre-made mixes. Furthermore, the whey protein will provide your body with a supply of amino acids which help metabolizing and with weight loss.

Ice cream

Yes, I said ice cream. Haagen-Dazs specifically offers a chocolaty rich sorbet that will have your taste buds cheering and your mind at ease. Browse your favorite supermarket and you'll be sure to find that when looking in Haagen-Dazs section a sorbet that is completely fat-free, contains some protein in addition to fiber which are all good nutrients and helpful to you in your weight loss plan. On average, you're looking to save 100 calories and 14 grams of fat per serving when compared to a serving of Haagen-Dazs' chocolate fudge ice cream.

Snacks and desserts are kind of one the sensitive topics of discussion when it comes to dieting and weight loss. Most of the time it's because there is a perceived fear felt by many that by somehow having a snack here and there is cheating yourself and ultimately a step backwards. As you've discovered through this article there are several options that allow you to find that happy medium between being healthy and tasty.

Try These Tasty Health Foods To Lose Weight

Posted by javanuddin on Thursday, February 23, 2012

People who want to know how to lose weight fast most often assume that losing extra weight is always difficult, boring and painful. However, there are different fun ways to lose weight effectively. All you need to do is alter your diet slightly and make minor modifications to the ingredients used in your regular meals. This can help cut down your calorie intake dramatically. Within a short period of time, you would be able to see good results. Try these tasty health foods to lose weight the smart and healthy way.

1. Homemade Raisin Bran

Pour a packet of raisins into a cup of Total cereal and mix it with a cup of non-fat milk. This simple recipe contains all the vitamins and minerals you need for the day, with 12 grams of proteins, natural fiber, sugar and 244 calories. When compared to ready-to-serve raisin bran, this homemade recipe will help you cut down 50 calories, 5 grams of fat and 6 teaspoons of sugar.

2. Boca Burger Grilled Vegetable burger

The usual American BBQ has a high volume of saturated fats. Instead, go for this tasty, soy-based, high protein, vegan alternative that has red-bell pepper, onion, garlic, a few cheeses and hints of zucchini. Add ketchup, tomato, lettuce and other toppings to get the traditional burger taste. When compared to a regular 3-ounce grilled beef burger, this recipe can save you 180 calories and 19 grams of fat.

3. Subway Roast Beef sub-sandwich

If you just cannot survive without meat, then this lean 6-inch roast beef sub-sandwich is a great option. It is a perfectly balanced meal with vegetables, tomato and lettuce, with just 4.5 grams of fat and 264 calories. When compared to a classic meatball sub, this meal will save almost 100 calories and 20 grams of fat.

4. Frozen fruit smoothie

Mix one cup of unsweetened, frozen blueberries with half a banana, quarter cup wheat germ and water to make your own antioxidant-filled fruit smoothie at home. When you compare this to your regular canned smoothie from the store, you can save 200 calories for every 2 to 3 cup serving. In fact, runner Bruce Shapiro used this same recipe over the last couple of years to lose 30 pounds.

All it takes is choosing a leaner and low calorie alternative to your favorite foods. You can then enjoy the same taste and delicious feel of your most preferred meals while eating tasty health foods to lose weight at the same time.
